Day 2 | Comic-Con@Home 2020 Panel Recap

In the second day of panel presentations via YouTube, here are the Movie Mechanic’s highlights of the day:

New Mutants:

The cast of the long awaited X-Men horror story get together to discuss the project and share footage from the film. The cast is young, talented, and ready to share this movie with the world. The New Mutants was orignally scheduled for release in February 2019, but was delayed repeatedly due to Disney’s acquisition of Fox, and then the COVID-19 pandemic closures of theaters. The film is now slated for release in theaters on August 28, 2020.

Marvel’s 616:

Disney+ is going to release a documentary anthology centered on the histories of various characters and events from Marvel’s past. Directors include Gillian Jacobs and Paul Scherer. For fans of comics generally, and Marvel in particular, this looks like a great non-fiction series in the same vein as “The Toys That Made Us.”

Crunchyroll Showcase:

Crunchyroll distributes anime worldwide and made announcements of a lot of new anime series, manga, and games. Their newest series, The God of High School, is an action/martial arts series based on a webtoon and is already receiving high praise. They also announced an original animated adventure/fantasy series, Onyx Equinox, set in Mexico during the Aztec empire, that looks interesting. See the video for the full announcement.

Cartoon Network First Look:
