Welcome back Crunchers! We are once again back to talk about Nathan Fillion’s new series The Rookie! This week Sergeant Grey continues his quest to make John Nolan’s life miserable. How does our Rookie cop handle the pressure? Let’s Crunch this!
Grey gives Nolan what he deems to be the worst possible assignment that he can give out. The VIP ride along. Little does he know of Fillion’s work on the tv show Castle. The ride along definitely caused me to have some Castle flashbacks, but this time Fillion is on the other side of things. For a Castle fan like myself, it was definitely interesting seeing the shoe on the other foot even if it was just for the actor and not the actual character.
Castle doing ride alongs really changed his character a lot over the years, but especially in the first season! However, our ride along in this episode changes a lot more quickly. Whether or not it was for the better is another question, however seeing this character change and interact with people with real issues was done really well and was entertaining to watch.
Officer Bradford is having some more wife problems and has some important tough decisions to make. The show does a really good job of making me wonder what decisions I would actually make if that were my wife and I were in his shoes. His drama kept Officer chen out of most of the show, which was kind of a bummer.
Overall this was a solid episode. Nathan Fillion’s personality was allowed to come out a little bit more at parts, which I think is a good thing. It wasn’t THE most exciting or well-done episode yet, but it was on par for the series thus far, which is pretty good! Go check it out Crunchers!
