“Geography is Destiny my friends. The world is the kiln, we are the clay”. Welcome back Crunchers! We have a very exciting episode of Jack Ryan to talk about today, so let’s Crunch this!
Ryan and Greer are overseas looking to save Suleiman’s family from his agents that are hunting them! They have to team up with some pretty crappy dudes in Turkey in an attempt to get the job done. This is a very emotional time for Ryan. It’s the first time that we see him start to lose his cool and make his decisions purely off emotion instead of tactically. He believes that his way of doing things is right, but time will tell if he keeps that opinion.
I’m really starting to like Greer a lot more after this episode. He proved that he is more than his superiors have let on, and not only can he keep his cool in the field, but he is freaking BA. We learn a bit more about him in this episode, and why he is the way that he is.
Hanin shows how resourceful she is. There is one scene in particular where things get real between her and her kids, that really just makes the situation feel more authentic.
We also get a more full view of just how dangerous Suleiman is, in a way that seems a little out of character for him. He has always been very careful and very calculated and yet it seems that his methods of killing people will be becoming very erratic and chaotic. I suppose chaos is what you are aiming for in the end as a terrorist though.
The one hang-up that I had with this episode, is that they are following the drone pilot and his attempts to reconcile having killed someone. I can see how the pilot would feel this way, but it doesn’t really add anything to the overall story and seems like a waste of screen time in my opinion.
The episode was definitely suspenseful, and the story is coming together in a really great way. It was really strong on character development and did a great job of drawing the audience in emotionally. Go check it out Crunchers!
