The long awaited sequel to the beloved Disney Superhero movie is finally here. Before Marvel, Disney demonstrated an incredible aptitude for the genre and the second iteration is clear proof that they’ve learned from their time with Marvel. Incredibles 2 is an extremely fun journey for kids and adults alike. I was pleasantly surprised by the action and story.
In the first film we are introduced to a world with Supers to see them become illegal shortly thereafter. The story takes the family from zero to hero in no time at all. The second film seeks to make supers legal again and Elastagirl is given the spotlight to make it happen.
What we end up getting is a great villain for a kid’s movie, twists and turns, and so much more. I found myself a little surprised by how violent the movie was for a kid’s film. The action was extremely good and frequent. It caught me a little off guard though and I found myself uncomfortable with the young children around.
The action was a bit much for me but the humor was top notch. Jack Jack is cuter and funnier than Baby Groot. I need a Jack Jack iny life. His giggles, giberish, and powers led to some incredibly funny moments. It also showed us a great father in Mr. Incredible.
With Elastagirl our fighting crime he was given the task of being a single parent and it was extremely relateable. Parents will get a huge kick out of his interactions with the kids and hearts will be warmed. The character becomes even more likeable in this go around. The release around Father’s day was highly appropriate.
I was pleasantly surprised with much of this film. I expected it to be good but not this good. It was on par with the original for sure and possibly better in some ways. The hero count was tripled, powers both funny and awesome and the wait well worth it.
