This season seems to be off to a rocky start with the legends feeling separated and yet together all at once. In addition to that Dr. Nate Heywood/Steel is having break up issues with Amaya. We get the chance to learn the true reasons why Amaya left and, personally, I felt it was a good reason.
The episode starts by having the Legends pick an anachronism that they can fix to prove their worth to the “Time Bureau”. The anachronisms are numbered 1 to 10, 10 being the worst. This helps the team decide on what one they could handle in order to prove it to themselves and to the Bureau.
I find that this episode is quite funny seeing as we will have another portrayal of P.T. Barnum by Hugh Jackman in the next coming months in the upcoming film, The Greatest Showman. I point this out because I thought that was interesting that we will see two different portrayals of Barnum in such a short time. Barnum is a part of the circus that brings a cat to the show. At first glance the idea of a cat may seem boring until you learn it is a saber tooth tiger from 10,000 years ago.
The Legends go through the effort of trying to capture it with Ray’s shrink ray and find that Ray is allergic to cats. As you can guess, this turns into another oops! This results in Sara going back for Amaya to help capture this cat. It also does not help that the team is being watched by the Time Bureau which, of course, leads to Agent Sharp coming in to fight Sara. This part seems to further hint that they have a history. How they act after and during their little fight makes for a compelling argument of a past relationship.
Regrettably we have a lot of pouting from Dr. Heywood because Amaya came back to help. Amaya explains that she saw her granddaughter, Vixen, fighting in Detroit and she wants to make sure she would come into existence. This leads her to explain the reason she left the team which is that the totem is taking control of her. Each animal is more in control than herself and, because of this, she fears what she could do to the team.
At the end of the episode we learn that Agent Sharp is telling Sara about Mallus which then cuts to a follower of Mallus summoning a lady for a lake. It sounds like King Arthur will play a role in the future, but the name is Kuasa that comes out. Only time will tell. Is this good news for the Legends to kick butt and not fix time or does it spell the end for the team?
