What the Spider-Man 3 Stars Are Up to Now

“Spider-Man 3” released just over 10 years ago. While it won big at the box office, it was so poorly received that it ended up killing the franchise but it didn’t kill the career of all those who were in it. Below are images of the actors/actresses from their days in “Spider-Man 3” and now.

Spider-Man 3
Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy
Jurassic World Cast, Wonderwall, June 10, 2015
Howard is best known for her role in “Jurassic World” and upcoming 2018 sequel “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. What a long way she’s come.

At the time of “Spider-Man 3” I had no idea who this actress was. Now 10 years later, she is in another monster franchise, “Jurassic World”, but this time as a star. Howard has come a long way in the last ten years!

dunts then
Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson

Kirsten now as Edwina in “The Beguiled”

Oh, Mary Jane Watson. One of the most annoying parts of the trilogy. Actress Dunst doesn’t hurt for work these days but her career didn’t explode as she possible expected it to due to the Spider-Man franchise.

franco then
James Franco as Harry Osborn/New Goblin
franco now in Vikar comedy
Franco is attached to numerous projects but this image is from the upcoming 2018 comedy “Zeroville”

James Franco differs from Kirsten Dunst in that his career is gigantic now after Spider-Man. This phenomenal actor is attached to numerous projects coming out this year and next. Check out his IMDB account to see just how many films he is working on.  You would think he is Dwayne Johnson with how busy he is!

Thomas Hayden Church as Flint Marko/Sandman

Church now in his current role of Robert in the TV series “Divorce”

Thomas Hayden Church did a fine job as Sandman. It wasn’t his fault the film was over crowded with villains. Since then he’s been consistently busy with at least one film a year and most often more than that. From his current project Divorce to his part in Easy A, Church has stayed plenty busy.

jk simmons then
J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson
simmons in justice league
Simmons is now playing the iconic role of Commissioner Gordon in this year’s upcoming “Justice League”

J.K. Simmons is a favorite of mine. His portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson was spot on and hilarious. Since Spider-Man 3, Simmons has bust enough. From a stint as the spokesman for Farmer’s Insurance to his recent casting as James Gordon, Simmons hasn’t gone anywhere and likely isn’t anytime soon with the Justice League this year and the Matt Reeve’s The Batman.

Spider-Man 3
Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spiderman
tobey now boss baby
You won’t see his face but Maguire’s voice was last used in “Boss Baby” released earlier this year

Maguire is far and away my least favorite of the three renditions of Spider-Man we’ve seen in recent years but I respect him. He put a lot into the character. He hasn’t been in the spotlight since his days as Peter Parker but he still gets fairly regular work such as his recent gig voicing Adult Tim and the Narrator in Boss Baby.

topher then
Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom
topher now war machine
Grace portrayed Matt Little in the Netflix movie “War Machine” released earlier this year

Topher Grace was the worst thing to happen to Spider-Man. Yes, even worse than Jamie Foxx as Electro. Even still, he isn’t a bad actor and has been working hard ever since. He has four projects set to release this year and next which tells us his career is far from over. Most recently released however was War Machine, a Netflix original movie wherein he plays Matt Little alongside Brad Pitt.

One comment

  1. I honestly didn’t even realize it was Topher Grace as Eddie Brock until I looked Spidey 3: The Emo Years on IMDB this year. He was truly forgettable except for the bell scene, that kind of always stuck with me.
J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.
J.K. Simmons is J. Jonah Jameson.
I was curious what inter-dimensional wall had to be breached to get Jameson to change professions and move to Gotham. I don’t remember him much in BvS ( I don’t remember much of it at all, which at times I’m grateful for), but I’m looking forward to him in The Batman, if only to hear him yell “BULLOCK!”
