Microsoft has been having a hard time with their exclusives lately with talk of how few there are, the cancellation of Scalebound earlier this year and now another delay for Crackdown 3. Microsoft Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis confirmed the delay in a tweet. Polygon further gathered the following quote from Loftis which offered more information:
“…We want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time, Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.”
This delay marks another embarrassment for the mega corporation. Delaying a game is often looked at positively as it means that the developers are making sure they release a high quality product. However, when there are numerous delays over many years, it becomes worrisome. Hopefully Crackdown 3 ends up being absolutely amazing for Microsoft as it was not impressive when showcased at E3 earlier this year.
